Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Zeli Products ("we," "us"), owned and operated by Joshua Oliker and based in Oradell, New Jersey, does with personal information.
We handle information in two different roles, and which part of this policy applies depends on how you reached us.
- If you contacted Zeli Products — through our contact form, by calling us, or by texting our number — Part 2 applies. We decide what happens to that information, and it is used to answer you.
- If you called or texted a business that uses Zeli, we are handling your information on that business's behalf, not our own. Part 1 explains that. The business you contacted decides what happens to your information, and their own privacy policy governs it.
- If you subscribe to Zeli for your business, Part 1 describes what we do with your customers' information, and Part 3 describes what we hold about you and your business.
Part 1 — Information we handle for businesses that use Zeli
Zeli is a service sold to local service businesses. When a customer calls one of those businesses and nobody answers, our system texts the caller back, holds a short conversation about the job, and records it as a lead in that business's dashboard.
Who is responsible for your information
If you are the person who called or texted a local business, that business — not Zeli — decides what is collected and what it is used for. We hold and process it under their instructions, so that we can run the service for them.
To ask what a business holds about you, to get a copy, or to have it deleted, contact that business. If you contact us instead, we will pass your request to them and help them act on it.
What is collected
- From a call: the phone number you called from, the time of the call, how long it lasted, and whether it was answered.
- From text messages: the messages exchanged between you and the business, including everything our automated assistant sends and everything you reply.
- Photos: any image you choose to send by text.
- Lead details: what the conversation established about the job — for example your name, the town you are in, what needs doing, and when you would like it done. These are drawn from what you say in the conversation.
- Voicemail: on the businesses whose setup offers one, an audio recording of the message you leave, an automatic written transcript, and its length.
- Opt-out status: if you reply STOP, we record that so that nothing is ever sent to you again.
What it is used for
- To send the automated reply to your missed call, and to continue the conversation about your request.
- To produce a summary of the job for the business owner, so they can call you back knowing what you need.
- To let the business owner read the conversation and reply to you themselves.
- To keep the service working — diagnosing faults, preventing abuse, and keeping within our providers' and the carriers' rules.
It is not used for marketing, it is not sold, and it is not shared with anyone beyond the providers listed below.
Automated replies, and the AI that writes them
Your messages are read by an AI system
The replies you receive are written automatically by an AI model, not typed by a person. To do that, the content of the conversation — your messages, and the business's configuration — is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, which generates the reply text and returns it.
Anthropic processes it only to produce that reply. It is not used to advertise to you, and it is not sold.
The business owner can read every message and take over the conversation themselves at any time, and from that point you are texting a person.
Who else it reaches
We use a small number of providers to run the service. Each one only receives what it needs to do its job, and none of them may use it for their own purposes:
- Twilio — telephone calls, text messages, photos sent by text, and voicemail recordings.
- Anthropic — the AI model that drafts replies, as described above.
- Supabase — the database and application servers where leads and conversations are stored.
- Netlify — hosting for our website and the dashboards.
- Stripe — subscription payments by business customers. Stripe does not receive any lead or conversation data.
- Resend and Web3Forms — sending account and notification email.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety or our legal rights.
How long it is kept
- Voicemail recordings and their transcripts, and photos sent by text: up to 90 days, then automatically deleted. The message or call they arrived with survives as an ordinary business record; only the audio, the transcript and the image are removed.
- Leads, conversations, and call records are kept for as long as the business subscribes to the service, so that the owner can look back at their own customer history.
- When a business's subscription ends, their data is kept so that they can come back to it or ask us for a copy. They can ask us to delete it at any time, and we do so promptly.
- A record that a phone number opted out is kept indefinitely, because deleting it is what would allow a message to be sent to someone who asked us to stop.
Part 2 — Information we collect when you contact Zeli
This part is about contacting Zeli Products itself — through the contact form on this site, or by calling or texting our own number. Here, we decide what happens to the information, and it is used to answer you.
Information we collect
- From the contact form: your name, email address, phone number, and the message you submit.
- SMS consent: if you check the SMS consent box, we record that you agreed to receive text messages at the number provided.
- From phone calls: the phone number you call from, the time of the call, and whether we answered.
- From voicemail: if you choose to leave a message, an audio recording of it, an automatic written transcript, and its length.
- From text messages: the messages you send us, and any photos you choose to attach.
How we use your information
- To respond to your inquiry and follow up about your request.
- If you check the SMS consent box on the contact form, to send you text messages about your request.
- To return your call and respond to any voicemail you leave.
- To look at any photo you send us, so we can understand what you need.
Text messaging
SMS terms & your choices
You may receive text messages from us if you check the SMS consent box on the contact form, agreeing to receive text messages about your request.
- Message frequency varies.
- Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan.
- Reply STOP at any time to opt out of further messages. Reply HELP for help.
We never sell, share, or transfer your mobile number to third parties for marketing. Your mobile number and any text-messaging consent are used solely to contact you about your request and are not shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes.
Call recording and voicemail
If you call us and we don't answer, you'll hear a short message and may be invited to leave a voicemail. We do not record the live conversation when we do answer — only the voicemail you choose to leave. If you leave one:
- We record it. The recording is stored by our telephone provider, Twilio, and is accessible to us.
- We transcribe it. The audio is processed automatically to produce a written transcript, so we can read the message as well as listen to it.
- We use it only to respond to you — to understand what you need and call you back. Recordings and transcripts are never sold, and never used for marketing.
Leaving a message is optional. If you'd rather not be recorded, hang up when the recording prompt begins and contact us by email or through our contact form instead.
How long we keep recordings. We keep voicemail recordings and their transcripts in our systems for up to 90 days, then delete them. The transcript is also emailed to us so we can read your message; that copy lives in our inbox like any other email. You can ask us to delete a recording sooner using the contact details below.
Photos you send us
If you text us, we may invite you to send a photo of the work you need done. Sending a photo is entirely optional. You can describe it in words instead, or simply skip the question, and we'll still help you.
- What we collect. The image you send and the text message it arrives with. Photos are stored by our messaging provider, Twilio, and are accessible to us.
- Why we collect it. So we can see the job and estimate the work accurately.
- We never sell your photos or share them for marketing. We don't use them in advertising, on our website, or on social media without asking you first.
How long we keep photos. We keep photos you send for up to 90 days, then delete them. You can ask us to delete a photo sooner using the contact details below. Please send only what shows the work — there's no need to include people, documents, or anything else personal.
Part 3 — If you have a Zeli account
When you sign up to use Zeli for your business, we hold:
- Your account: your email address and a hashed form of your password, handled by our authentication provider.
- Your business details: business name, legal name, business type, address, website, and the name, email and phone number of your contact person. These are the details a carrier registration requires.
- Your tax ID (EIN), where your business type requires one. It is used only to file your carrier registration. It is never returned to a browser — not even yours — and it is never shown on any screen.
- Your authorization to file that registration: who agreed, when, and the IP address it came from. This is evidence that a named person consented, and we keep it for as long as the registration stands.
- Billing: your subscription status and a Stripe customer reference. Card details are handled entirely by Stripe and never reach us.
We use it to run your account, file your registration, take payment, and contact you about the service. We do not sell it and we do not use it for advertising.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us operate — for example, our hosting, database, email, AI, and telephone/messaging providers — and only so they can perform those services for us. As stated above, mobile numbers are never shared for third-party marketing.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as customer service, is permitted. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
Data retention
We keep inquiries for as long as needed to respond and to keep reasonable business records, then delete or anonymize them. Voicemail recordings and transcripts, and any photos you send us, are kept for up to 90 days, as described above. Data we hold for business customers is kept as described in Part 1. You can ask us to delete your information using the contact details below.
Your choices
- Stop text messages at any time by replying STOP. It takes effect immediately and permanently.
- Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, using the contact details below. If you contacted a business that uses Zeli, we will pass the request to that business, because it is theirs to answer.
- Close your account. Business customers can ask us to delete their account and all of their data at any time.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information. We honour those requests regardless of where you are.
Security
Access to leads and conversations requires a signed-in account that is linked to that specific business, and links to recordings and photos are signed and expire. No system is perfectly secure, but we do not collect more than the service needs, and we delete recordings and photos on a schedule.
Children
The service is sold to businesses and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
